Editorial Policy

CalcStation publishes calculation tools — not articles. This policy explains how we source reference data, how often we review it, and how to report errors.

Sourcing

Reference data behind our calculators is compiled from authoritative public sources:

  • Medical / pharmacological — FDA drug labels, NIH PubChem, CDC guidance, ACOG clinical bulletins, Mayo Clinic patient education.
  • Financial — Federal Reserve H.15 statistical release, Survey of Consumer Finances, CFPB guidance, IRS publications, SEC and FINRA investor education.
  • Scientific / unit conversion — NIST Special Publication 811, IEC 80000 standards, ISO 8601 for date-time.
  • Holidays and calendars — Government calendars for the applicable region; we do not interpolate religious dates outside their named tradition.

Specific source links appear on the methodology page and on individual calculator pages where a result depends on a non-obvious reference value.

Review cadence

  • Annual for finance calculators (rates and percentiles drift; we recheck against the underlying source on a yearly schedule).
  • On regulatory change for medical/pharmacological calculators — when ACOG updates a guideline or FDA changes a drug label.
  • On standard revision for unit converters — when NIST or IEC publishes a revision.
  • Continuously for arithmetic and trigonometric calculators (the underlying math doesn't change, but our implementation is covered by automated tests).

No AI-generated content shipped without review

We use software tools — including large language models — to draft prose and identify edge cases. We do not publish AI-generated content without a human editor verifying it against the primary source. Calculation results are produced by deterministic code, never by an LLM.

Corrections

If you find an error, please use the contact form linked in the footer. We aim to acknowledge corrections within five business days and to publish a fix — or a written explanation of why we believe the existing content is correct — within thirty days.
